Eat Local - App Development Project

Project Statement
This is the Project Statement for the App Development (Logotype/Icons) project. The project objective is to design an smartphone App interface with a set of 10 (or more) icons for a business/organization. The designer must create a logotype for the name of the business and an interface prototype to show the icons in use. The business represented in this project is called "Eat Local." Eat Local is a travel and conversation app for foodies of all ages. On Eat Local, a user can discover the best local mom and pop restaurants suggested by locals and other travelers for the best food experience in any city!

The dimensions of this app were IPhone 12 (5.78 in X 2.82 in) and there are eight pages in total. This app is created to be found in the Samsung/Apple App Store. This app was prototyped and user-tested in Marvel.com and Graphicburger. There were multiple different colors used through out this project. The colors used in this project are red, (RGB 255, 11, 18) yellow, (RGB 255, 230, 0) tan, (RBG 255, 188, 36) brown, (RBG 181, 108, 41) purple, (RGB 102, 45, 145) blue, (RGB 46, 77, 255) black, (RGB 35, 31, 32) and white. Multiple bright colors were used in order to give the Eat Local app a bright and welcoming feel that related to the inspiration. Black and white were used as the main colors for the text and background. The reason is because the app’s icons give plenty of color for the user and trying to add any more complimentary color to the icons would become to much for the viewer to handle. The Typeface used for this project is called Sarabun. Sarabun is a serif font that has multiple different weights. The weights that are used for this project are regular, bold, italic, and bold italic. This serif font was used because it’s heavier weight and thicker strokes conveys the classic American dinner inspiration that this project needed. Sarabun regular, italic, bold, and bold italic were used.

Multiple images were used throughout the apps interface to enhance the user's experience and allow them to picture was is being discussed. Photos were also added to the discussion pages so users can post, like, and comment on them based on what they like. All pictured were obtained for free use on Pexels.com. This project required research, sketches, icon/symbol design, personas, wireframes, user-testing, and a process book/Behance page. This project was created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
